Cephalexin is a first-generation cephalosporin antibiotic introduced in 1967 by Eli Lilly and Company. It works by interfering with the bacteria's cell wall formation, causing it to rupture, and killing the bacteria. This is used for treatment of gill rot and other assorted aquatic bacteria.
